Welcome
to our tribute to the great drummer Karen Carpenter. She
was a fantastic drummer and musician...more than just a
drummer who sang! Rather
than go into her bio, we want to
showcase her talents on the drums during her time with The
Carpenters.
Karen
was more than just a drummer.....really a percussionist
who sang and played the drums. She loved studying complex
time signatures and later incorporated these into her unique
sound on the drums. A prefect example is in the video below...forward
the clip to 2:30 and you will see!
Take
some time to check out drumming videos of Karen.
Please
contact us
if you have any questions or have personal memorabilia to
share, and let's preserve the history of this great female
drumming legend!

Girl
Drums is a web site dedicated to girl drummers and girl drumming.
We have a bunch of female percussionist history and literature
going back to the 20's. There were a bunch of female drum
lines and female groups that played drums and percussion.
Today the girl drummer has moved into the spotlight! Drummers
like Sheila E., Cindy Blackman, Hannah Ford, Gina Schock,
Karen Carpenter and many others are well respected in the
business and welcomed into the drumming community.
